The official release date for the final book in the ANOMALY trilogy is July 15. But I got these yesterday…
And I just can’t wait until July 15 to start sharing them! So I’m going to be giving away two books a week from now until July 15.
This week, in honor of my upcoming move, the way to enter the giveaway is to tell me a story about moving. It can be a real-life story, if you have gone through a move, or it can be totally fiction, if you haven’t. I could use a good laugh, so funny stories get bonus points ;). Keep it under 200 words, and write it below, under comments. Only those entered in the comment section will be eligible to win.
This contest ends Thursday night. I’ll announce the winners Friday.
Our move wasn’t a long one, just across the state line about 45 minutes or do. But, the house was’s completely finished and it was time for school to start back. Namely, the kitchen and bathrooms weren’t finished!! I won’t go through all the detail that entails but the bathtub doubled as my kitchen sink!!
My son was a sleepwalker at the Tim and we didn’t have “inside” furniture in the kitchen yet. Just some patio chairs and a big black outside garbage can with a lid. He has just watch Star Ears Episode 1 and one if the first nights in our new home I found him in the kitchen in a lawn chair Golding a garbage. An old as a steering wheel – he was pod racing! This is a priceless memory!! He was about 9 years old and he’s 17 now. Time flies!!
That is awesome! I have a ten-year-old boy, and I can totally see him pod racing with a trash can lid! So funny.
My hubby and I just recently decided to move across the parking lot of our apartment complex from a two bedroom to a one bedroom. We have much faith in our relationship to go from a “large” apartment to a “small apartment”, but I am unsure if my legs and sweat glands agree! We started the moving process about a month ago by packing up our stuff into all sizes of boxes and bins… To move across the parking lot! In the past month, I have received many bumps and bruises on my legs due to jumping over boxes and then basically falling into them. On the actual moving days, my hubs decided to open all the windows and doors of the old apartment and turn off the AC… *Enter sweat glands. Holy macral, I never knew I could sweat/glisten/sparkle so much! But somehow I must have been overly attractive, probably not to my husband but to the millions of mosquitos that live in Florida! I choreographed my own dance moves while walking boxes to and from our truck; it is called the “mosquito slap”. I don’t want to give away all my special moves but… Slap a leg, arm, cheek, forehead, and repeat! Sometimes, I even slapped the husband (for his sake not mine). When all those boxes and bins finally were moved into the new apartment (where I am again jumping over them like hurdles), I got out my trusty black sharpie and circled all the mosquito bites on my legs… 20 on the left and 23 on the right. I believe that the mosquito population of this area has feasted well and are now relaxing by my compex’s pool until their bellies are empty and ready to find their next victim.
LOL! I feel your pain. FL mosquitos are brutal. Glad you survived the move, my friend!
After my grandma started to get older my family thought it was a good idea if she moved into our house! I was totally okay with this idea until I realized that she needed to be close to my mom and my bedroom was the only one on the same floor as my mother. I then proceeded to move into my unfonished basement, a small room with a bathroom no one had used in years!
It took my a good twoo weeks to get settled in, however that wasn’t the end of it. Every night I heard creeks and cracks in the walls. I couldn’t sleep! Then one night i took matters into my own hands! I grabed blanket amd pillow and races back upstaris. Needless to say I ended up “moving” into my living room, where the basement monsters couldn’t get to me.
I would have done the same thing, Tatiana!
I always manage to lose something when I move, and I am not really sure how this happens! And I don’t lose normal things, like a shoe or a CD. No. I lose totally random things. A few years ago when I was moving after graduate school, I lost my colander. The last time I moved, a year ago, I lost all of my measuring cups and spoons and my can opener. They just vanished, and I never saw them again! To this day, I have no idea where they went. I had to go buy all new ones. Apparently I have bad luck when it comes to items in my kitchen!
Too funny, Meagan! But you have helped me remember my kitchen items. Thanks!
My family and I moved about a year ago from Orlando and we were there for about 7 years. It was one of the hardest things Ive had to do. We were moving because God called my dad to be a pastor of a church 40 mintues from Orlando. I knew it was what God wanted for our family. I decided one night that I will trust God through this hard time and I asked God to use me at our new church and sure enough, He did 🙂 I became friends with this one girl my age and through our friendship she got saved 🙂
Moving is always hard, but God is the best Comforter ever 🙂 He has a plan, just trust Him. 🙂
What an awesome testimony, Lauren! Thanks so much for sharing.
Well, my move was about a year ago. I don’t like change and I had to move from a home I had lived in for 6 years. And now on top of that my Nana lived there and we lived on a farm. It was really hard for me, but here I am I live in my new home for almost a year. We moved into town. I have survived! There are perks about moving like now I have my own room, a hammock, and my archery equipment. At this time my Aunt and Uncle and their kids were moving too. They moved into our old house! I still miss being on the farm but I go out to the farm on Thursdays. (my favourite day of the week). I love to see my cousins and Aunts and Uncles and most of all my Nana.
How wonderful that you still get to visit your former home! What a blessing!
Ya I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t visit.
I have lived in the same town for all my life, but I may have the possibility of moving in the future. My dad is in the process of getting a principal’s job and for that to happen we might have to make a significant move. I have made so many friends here that are a significant part of my life and have been since kindergarten of before. I would hate to move away from all these wonderful people in this town that I have known all of my life. So many adults in this town have influenced me including members of my church, my teachers, and my friends parents. This move would have such a humongous impact on my life, but I have chosen to put it in the hands of God. I know that he knows what will happen and he has chosen what is best. This story sort of identifies with your book “Right Where I Belong”. When I read your books, a certain part of me feels safe. I know that whatever happens I will still have God.
Your faith inspires me, Emma. With a teachable spirit like yours, God will be greatly glorified, whether you remain where you are or move.
9 years ago, my parents made the decision to move out into the country. “The Country” being an actual front/back yard to run around in.
AKA 2 1/2 acres.
I was really upset when they made announcement.
But once I realized that I couldn’t change their minds, and we got to see our new house, I finally got excited.
We needed to find a church.
There came a day when Dad found one that sounded great.
That Sunday, I got to go with him. I ‘ll always remember that day.
That was my first Sunday at the place I would come to know as home-away-from-home.
I didn’t realize until I got older, that my old church really wasn’t what a church should be.
Everybody at my new church have such hearts for the Lord, and are so in love with Christ.
They set wonderful examples for the kids and are always there for people in need of prayer.
I’m so thankful to God for blessing us with this community.
At the time, I thought I knew best, I see now that God’s plan was perfect. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I put my trust in Him.
Isn’t it awesome how God knows so much better than we do what is best for us? He is so good!
All the time
About 9 years ago, when my parents were looking for a house they saw a house on a corner lot and went and looked inside. They really liked the house but my dad wasn’t fond of the idea that it was a corner lot. A week or so later, my parents took me and sister, we were 3 & 1 at the time, to see the house. The first thing my sister did once she was in the house was start playing with the doorstops (you know the ones that boing!), and I started walking around and we all really liked it and we still live here!
I’m excited about the release of Revolutionary!
God bless!
Lauren
Thanks, Lauren! And I love those doorstops. I used with play with them when I was a kid!
2 years ago me and my parents have been house hunting to live together for almost 4 years we lived in a apt complex since I was a baby and were we lived at has a high crime rate we just wanted to move far away from there if we could it just got to much for us and it was the hardest thing to do we had been looking for almost three years and we had no such luck at the same time we were house hunting I decided to put in a application for an apt for me at a complex that was just up town were we lived at I prayed every night to god that I leave everything in his blessed hands and that if it was meant to be for us to move together or for me to move on my own and then around the summer time two years ago my prayers was answered I was called in by a apt manger from the apt complex were I put the application at the manger said they had an open apt for me if I still would like too take it now I had to think long and hard for this decision because it was the hardest decision to make my father didn’t want me to take the apt he wanted me to stay and wait one more year to see if we can found a house but I already made my decision it was the hardest one I had to make but I now god answer my prayers about moving and if I would not take this pure blessing that he gave me then I would never have another great opportunity as that ever again so I took it and moved in my own apt two years ago and I am living my full fun life yes my father wasn’t happy but he understood and now accepts me leaving on my own and I thank god everyday for the truly amazing blessing he gave me
Thanks for this amazing giveaway!
That is awesome!
Comment
Just kidding about the last comment! My last move (last fall) was crazy. It involved being out of town, movers cancelling and spending my layover hiring other movers. They moved the big stuff, but being last minute, I ended still having to move a ton (like all my books) last minute. Lesson learned to not trust Groupon movers. But since I love my new place, totally worth it 🙂
Books….those ARE a pain to pack and unpack!! Glad you’re enjoying the new place, though!!
Several years ago we had to move a couple of times in one year, due to buying a home in a new area and trying to figure out where to live! Our kids were both very young and still in diapers and we used a lot of diaper boxes to pack their clothes and toys. After our third and last move into our new home we were finally unpacking for good and settling in. After unpacking the kids’ boxes I realized that several of the boxes were still new and had diapers in them, and we had moved them three times! Of course now they were too small but thankfully we could return them! My husband thought it was hilarious!
Funny!!
When I found out that we were moving to Texas, I didn’t know what to expect. Coming from California, I could only picture cowboys on horses and dirt. Little did I know what would happen when we got there.
The night we moved into our new house, we were greeted with a huge strawberry cheesecake that must have weighed 5 pounds! The neighbors asked lots of questions like, “Where are y’all from?” Later that evening our neighbors on the other side brought by a whole smoked ham that tasted amazing!
That weekend was the annual lawnmower/ tractor race on the street. After sticking a Nascar sticker on the side of the lawnmower my brother Rusty was driving, everyone started their engines. We all cheered as the boys took off toward the end of the street.
I have never been more proud than when my brother won first place in the lawnmower race. My family was already excited for next year’s race! I think it was safe to say at that point that we were going to like Texas.
We lived in Texas (Midlothian) for six years, and we loved it. It’s a great place with even greater people.
When I was in the process of moving my friend and I were packing some of my boxes. My friend said that she was an absolute pro (!!) at packing boxes because she had moved several times. She wrapped everything like 5 times saying she knew EXACTLY what she was doing. Then I later found out that she moved once when she was only a few months old! Then when my family was packing up the truck I saw her leaving her house with her mom (she was my neighbor) and I asked them to help us. Her mom looked at me, and then said, “Can’t, we have swim. Good luck!” Then she left with lightning speed. I never saw her again till after we had been in our new house for a few months. My move wasn’t that big however, but big enough that I rarely see any of my old friends… The distance between my old house and my new one is 30min and 23 miles away!
I hope all the things your friend packed made it safely to your new house!!
*Disclaimer* This is all a completely true.
One morning, my mom and dad were praying together and asking for the next step when my dad heard a trash truck. We forgot to take our trash out, so he rushed out of bed and ran to get it down our treacherous driveway. At the end of our driveway was a man in a suit, just moseying around. If you had seen our neighborhood, you would know this was very unusual. My dad talked to this man, who was going to look at our neighbor’s house to rent. He ended up coming to look at our house 20 minutes later, and that night he signed a two year lease. It was very sudden, but my family had peace that it was God’s plan. But apparently, the devil did not like those plans. The next week I got a salivary gland infection (My cheek was so swelled that I looked like a chipmunk), and then wildfires occurred right next to our house; my aunt’s house was in the middle of the fire, but her house did not get destroyed. Then, my mom got a serious form of pneumonia, and was very close to dying. But to top everything off, my dear grandpa passed away. Although this is something that you are probably thinking that you would rather read about than experience, I know that he has given us divine strength to walk it out with Him.
Oh, my goodness!!
